It's perfectly suitable for culling or the occasional edit on the road, however. Personally, I find the screen a bit too small to be truly useful as an editing machine. The non-real time ones (DT/RT/SP) are a bit more annoying than usual, but work fine. I have found the faster ones (C1/LR) much more enjoyable to use than the slower ones, though (X5/ON1). You can run every RAW developer in the Surface so long as you're patient. But it can truly fill both roles, which is hugely valuable to me. It's not terribly fast as a laptop, nor particularly small for a tablet. I own one, and I have used it for photo editing.
